What is EHS and HSE?
EHS is an English term, an acronym for Environmental, Health, and Safety. In Hungarian, it means KEM, or Környezetvédelem, Egészségvédelem, Munkabiztonság (Environmental Protection, Health Protection, Occupational Safety). Environmental protection is a societal activity aiming to protect our environment from pollution caused by ourselves. The purpose of health and safety at work is to ensure that workers can do their jobs safely. HSE stands for Health and Safety Executive. EHS coordination / HSE coordination is the coordination of these conditions and the enforcement of rules. Fire and disaster protection also belong to EHS.
These professionals are needed because companies work with machines in huge halls with several hundred to several thousand people, and human life safety is the most important. Companies that work with explosive substances during their manufacturing require fire protection qualifications. This is very valuable nowadays, as few professionals have the necessary qualifications.
The primary task of HSE coordination is to establish appropriate occupational safety and fire protection measures. The right protective clothing also belongs to occupational safety. If the worker performs work in a harmful working environment, the risk of industrial accidents should be reduced to preserve long-term health. If it produces environmentally harmful products, it’s important to handle and remove them appropriately.
To carry out the tasks of EHS coordination/HSE coordination, knowledge of the English language is required as various documentation and decisions are made at the European level.
